Excursion destinations
Have you visited the Zugspitze (highest mountain in Germany), the Ammergauer Alps, the Linderhof Palace, the Ettal Abbey or the small villages Oberammergau and Bad Tölz?
The Tannheimer Tal (30 minutes by car) or the Kleinwalsertal (little Walser valley) also attracts many travel enthusiasts, take a look at the ski jumping hill in Oberstorf and then take a stroll through the beautiful region. A little further on and worth a visit is Lindau and Lake Constance.
Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau Castles
If you haven’t seen the fairy-tale castle turrets of King Ludwig II you haven`t been to Allgäu. The Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles are only a few kilometers away. The fascination surrounding the world-famous castles near Schwangau is not unfounded and once you are there and see the extraordinary, almost unreal structure built between the mountain rocks and forest for yourself you will know why King Ludwig II was called the "fairy-tale king"
Tours on foot or by bike
Mountain tours from beginners to experts are right on our doorstep. In this region you will find many small Alpine huts where the owners can offer you fresh buttermilk or local beer or shandy amongst other things. If the ascent to the mountains is too strenuous, there are cable cars in the region, which will bring you comfortably to airy heights (eg the Alpspitzbahn near Nesselwang). As a Landhaus Grobert guest you can use the KönigsCard given to you at check-in to use some of the mountain lifts for free once a day.
City trip made easy
The Allgäu metropolis Kempten is only a thirty minute drive away. It can be easily reached via the A7 motorway. Recent Roman excavations, the splendid architecture and shopping center (AllgäuForum) make for a great day out. You can also reach Munich and Augsburg by car or train! The Oktoberfest in Munich is definitely worth a visit.
